Units 1-2: Digital Literacy
The first very unit we completed was digital literacy. At the time, none of us could define was it was. This unit was the most important of all, and served as a perfect introduction to the course. After hours of grueling boredom in front of the computer, we were able to conclude that digital literacy was the understanding of the terminology associated with information and communication technology.

Project 1
Define Computer Terms
My first impression of this class wasn't so great. I could accept the fact that we had to sit in front of the computer for the whole lesson, but then we were tasked with the boredom of mindlessly searching up definitions of computer parts. To top it of, most of them were pretty obvious, and there was hardly anything new to learn.
We learned:
-
3 things a computer can do
-
Functions of a computer
-
Input, output, and storage devices
Furthurmore, there was another exercise where we had to define (again) specific computer parts such as hardware, software, CPU, etc.

Project 2
Effective Searches
How can we search for efficiently and effectively? How can we make sure the website is reliable?
Google Search has so many shortcuts waiting to be discovered. To truly deem a website reliable, we must consider these 5 things:
-
How accurate is it?
-
Does the author have the authority?
-
What is the object or intention of this article?
-
Is this issue current? Or is it outdated?
-
How much does it cover?

Project 3
Safety and Security
After familiarizing ourselves with computer terms and functions, we moved onto the dangers of browsing on the Internet. From viruses to ergonomic tips, we covered almost all the dangers associated with the World Wide Web.
